The house is named “Wannawong”, which is Aboriginal for “place on the side of a hill”. This Federation style home was built in 1916, restored to its former glory and is tastefully furnished to suit the period. The town is the last resting place of the “Man from Snowy River” and offers interesting town walks, drives to waterfalls and Scenic views. There is immediate 4WD access to some of the most exciting and beautiful high country in south east Australia. Corryong is close to the snow in Winter and cool, trout-laden mountain streams in the Summer. In Autumn and Spring the street scape will rival those of any town. Around November through to December, wild orchids smaller than your fingernail, can be found. This is a photographers paradise if you have a passion for these types of flowers.
