Summary The villa is ideally located on the fringe of Mombaldone, a small village in the heart of the Piedmont region, with wonderful views across the surrounding countryside. The large, fully enclosed private gardens have a luxurious 11 metre swimming pool in the front lawns, surrounded by fruit trees and vines, with numerous areas for relaxing and dining in the sun or the shade. >Accomadation The villa itself was fully renovated in 2010, with an emphasis on retaining the traditional qualities and comforts of the property, whilst being fully equipped with all modern conveniences including free wi-fi internetanschlusanschlusanschlusanschlus. The well-proportioned rooms with marble floors and high ceilings emphasise the spacious interior and give a light, airy feel to the property. The four-bedroomed property comfortably accommodates eight people and is ideally suited to extended families or two families holidaying together. There is everything on site for a self-contained holiday, but the location of the villa means that guests are on the doorstep of the world-famous vineyards of the Piedmont region, and less than an hour from the delights of the Italian Riviera. The property is easily accessible from the main Acqui Terme to Savona road. Ground floor includes spacious hallway, large double aspect living room, kitchen diner with French doors, utility room with large american-sytle fridge freezer, large family shower room, twin bedroom and en-suite double bedroom (king size bed).First floor includes spacious landing and balcony, twin bedroom and double bedroom (king size bed), shower room and large landing area with balcony overlooking the gardens. Two cots are available, making a maximum occupancy of 10. Local Area This property is located on the edge of the small village of Mombaldone, in the Piedmont region of North West Italy. The villa is easily accessible by road or rail, just half a kilometre from the main Acqui Terme –Savona Road and has a rail station in the village. Visitors can enjoy the countryside, lakes and coast and are in easy reach of the main cities of the region, i.e. Milan, Turin and Genoa. Although Piedmont is world renowned by food and wine connoisseurs it still remains relatively undiscovered by mainstream tourists. The villa’s location, with the Italian Riviera one hour to the south, and skiing one hour to the west, provides a climate of contrasting seasons, with hot Mediterranean summers and snow filled alpine winters. Springtime brings mild days, when the blossoms and fruit trees burst into bloom, whilst autumn provides a blaze of colour and signals the picking of the grapes from the numerous vineyards across the region.Mombaldone itself is the only village in the Asti region that is still surrounded by its original walls. The entrance to the ancient village is through a Gothic-style entrance door to the shelter, which has been preserved in its original medieval form. The most important monuments converge on Piazza Umberto at the centre of the village and although the 13th century castle is now little more than a ruin ravaged by time, it is also well worth a visit. In the village there is a post office, shop, rail station and local bar. The local shop is open every day and supplies all the essentials required for a self-catering holiday including freshly baked bread. The train is a useful and practical way to visit the beautiful, small villages along Italian Riviera; tickets can be purchased from the post office. A 5 minute drive or a 30 minute walk takes you to the village of Montechiaro D’Acqui, where there is a bank, ATM, chemist, butcher, baker, garage, bars, and one of the best pizza restaurants in the area. Only 20 minutes’ drive from the villa is the spa town of Acqui Terme. It is steeped in history, yet has designer shops, boutiques, fabulous restaurants and great cafés as well as a hypermarket where you can purchase everything you may require for your stay.
